There are many technologies which make up smart city, including the internet of things (IoT) devices<\/span>, software solutions, and user interfaces (UIs). Their<\/span> primary reliance is on the Internet of Things. Vehicles, sensors, and home appliances that can communicate and exchange data are included in the Internet of Things.<\/span><\/p>\n

Smart cities serve residents<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

A smart city<\/span> must produce a high quality of life for its residents in order to achieve economic growth. <\/span>Smart cities can be made safer, more efficient, and more livable with a RUCKUS NETWORK<\/strong><\/a><\/span> that connects vast numbers of IoT devices<\/a><\/span> and sensors.<\/span><\/p>\n

In this regard, smart cities<\/span> are advantageous in that they facilitate more efficient service delivery with less infrastructure and cost. <\/span>Cities are becoming more densely populated and need to utilize their infrastructure and assets more efficiently as population increases. To be successful, smart city initiatives need to include the people they aim to serve: residents, businesspeople, and visitors. These initiatives should be transparent and available to citizens through a mobile app or open data portal. By doing so, residents are able to engage with the data and learn how it is used.<\/span><\/p>\n

Smart city<\/span> opponents worry that city managers will not keep\u00a0data privacy\u00a0and\u00a0security\u00a0top of mind, fearing the exposure of the data that citizens produce on a daily basis to the risk of hacking or misuse. Additionally, the presence of sensors and cameras may be perceived as an invasion of privacy or government surveillance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Smart cities are also challenged by finding ways to attract and keep residents without a cultural fabric. The cultural essence of an area is oftentimes what attracts residents the most; this is something that cannot be programmed or controlled with a sensor. Therefore, smart cities may falter because they cannot provide a sense of authenticity, distinctiveness or place.<\/span><\/p>\n
